Solutions

Stratumly for rail

For routes, contractors and freight ROSCOs that need inspection plus twin in one platform, sized for a regional asset base.

What you get

Track, signal, OLE and level-crossing registers, defect logs, possession-planning maps, track-geometry survey ingest, and digital twins of stations and major structures with live track-monitor IoT.

Pain we’re replacing

  • National-scale twin platforms are overkill (and overpriced) for a regional asset base
  • The GIS holds the register but doesn't address structural twins
  • Possession-planning data in spreadsheets

How the three pillars apply

Stratumly is one platform with three layers. Here is what each layer does and why it matters for rail.

Pillar 0

Spatial Data Platform

Track, signal, OLE and level-crossing registers, with defect logs, possession-planning overlays and contractor handover maps in one tenant.

The horizontal foundation for every operator who needs to know where their assets are and what's happening to them.

Explore Spatial Data Platform

Pillar 1

Inspection & Intelligence

Track-geometry, OLE and structure surveys ingested in 3D, with AI flagging deformation and vegetation between possessions.

Turn periodic drone and LiDAR surveys into continuously-updated intelligence about your asset base.

Pillar 2

Digital Twin Studio

Twins of stations, viaducts and major junctions, bound to track-monitor IoT for live geometry and load awareness.

A premium tier for the most critical assets that justify a deep, sensor-bound 3D model.

One platform for your whole estate

The same map, register, and audit trail that operators in rail use to see every asset, defect, and work order in one place.

Who uses Stratumly day-to-day

One tenant, multiple roles. Each role has the surfaces they need without the licence overhead of a separate product per persona.

Permanent way (P-way) engineer
Reviews track-geometry surveys, raises defect tickets, sequences tamping campaigns against the condition layer.
OLE engineer
Monitors OLE condition and clearance, ingests pantograph-camera and LiDAR sweeps, raises work orders against twin elements.
Possession planner
Assembles possession overlays on the map, briefs contractors with a single shared view, no PDF stitching.
Structures / civils engineer
Owns viaduct, bridge and tunnel records; runs Principal Inspections, annotates defects in 3D, ties back to the structure register.
Asset performance manager
Pulls availability, defect-cycle and tamping-effectiveness metrics off the same tenant the field works in.

Concrete workflows

Real scenarios, end-to-end, off the same map and audit log. Not slideware: each step maps to a documented surface.

Track-geometry survey to defect tickets

Track-geometry car runs the route; cant, twist and gauge defects land as features without manual extract-transform.

  1. Geometry survey is uploaded via the survey upload flow.
  2. Threshold-rule extraction (configurable per route class) writes geometry exceedances as features in the track-defects layer.
  3. Spatial-join against possession-package polygons attributes defects to the right contractor's work envelope.
  4. A tamping-campaign dashboard ranks sites by exceedance severity and growth rate.

Possession briefing on a shared map

Saturday-night possession; the planner, contractor, signaller and engineering supervisor all see the same canvas.

  1. Planner builds the possession layer (shifts, work zones, isolation points, walking routes) using the drawing tools.
  2. Linked submissions (RT3 / SSOW briefings) attach to the possession features.
  3. A public-share token (with expiry) shares the read-only map with contractor planners.
  4. Post-possession, the audit log carries every change to the layer for incident learning.

Structure inspection with twin element scoring

Viaduct Principal Inspection by drone; element scores roll up automatically to the structure register.

  1. Drone survey is uploaded; processing produces the 3D tileset.
  2. Engineer annotates defects in the 3D viewer; AI-assisted defect detection flags candidates on roadmap.
  3. Annotations link to twin elements where the structure has been twinned; element scores roll up to the structure record.
  4. Capital prioritisation dashboard surfaces structures below threshold; reports export with full audit trail.

Asset register templates we ship

Starter feature classes with sensible attribute schemas. Edit the schema, add fields, or replace it; templates are starting points, not lock-in.

Regulatory & compliance fit

ROGS (Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems Regulations 2006)ORR
Asset records and inspection cycles carry a defensible audit trail for safety-management-system audits.

Sample dashboard KPIs

What a Monday-morning view looks like. Every KPI binds to live data in the same tenant; no copy-paste, no overnight ETL.

  • Track-geometry exceedances by ELR
  • Open structure defects beyond intervention deadline
  • Possession overruns this period
  • OLE wire-height exceedances
  • Switches & crossings due for inspection (next 30d)
  • Tamping-campaign effectiveness (% sites cleared)

Procurement & deployment

Stratumly is contractable per route, per regional fleet or per ROSCO portfolio. Sovereign deployment on ENTERPRISE tier; no asset data leaves the customer's environment.
